Horror Film Which Ignited Blockbuster Franchise Will Be Available in Theaters for One Week Only Starting October 31, 2014

SANTA MONICA, CA  August 27, 2014 – This Halloween, Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF) will celebrate the 10^th anniversary of the theatrical release of SAW, the film that kicked off the most successful horror franchise in history, by bringing it back to theaters nationwide for one week only.  The film will open on Friday, October 31^st, with select screenings beginning Thursday night, October 30^th.  The seven SAW films grossed $874 million at the box office worldwide and were hailed by the Guinness Book of World Records as the “Most Successful Horror Franchise” of all time.  

“The launch of SAW was a signature event in Lionsgate’s history, establishing our first franchise and paving the way for our growth into a global studio,” said Lionsgate President of Acquisitions & Co-Productions Jason Constantine. “We are excited for our fans to revisit the twisted magic that first blew their minds on Halloween 2004.”

  

“As part of SAW’s 10^th anniversary, we’re thrilled to give new fans and audiences the opportunity to experience this film on the big screen for the very first time,” added SAW’s producers Oren Koules and Mark Burg.

SAW was the first collaboration for co-creators James Wan, who directed the film, and Leigh Whannell, who wrote the screenplay. Together, they also created the successful INSIDIOUS franchise, and Wan has gone on to direct such high-profile films as THE CONJURING and the upcoming FAST & FURIOUS 7.

Directed by Wan from a script penned by Whannell, SAW is a psychological thriller focusing on two men who wake up in a secure lair of a serial killer, with a dead body lying between them. The killer, nicknamed “Jigsaw,” leaves them tape recorded messages with details of how to make it out alive. The only way for one man to make it out alive is to do the unthinkable. The two men desperately try to find a way out, while also trying to figure out who's behind their kidnapping. The film, which was released over Halloween weekend on October 29, 2004, was produced by Gregg Hoffman, Oren Koules, and Mark Burg.

"CANTINFLAS" es uno de los personajes más reconocidos en el mundo entero. Este personaje fue creado e interpretado por años por el actor y comediante Mario Moreno Reyes.  Para conmemorar su trabajo, este próximo viernes, 28 de agosto Oscar Jaenada interpreta a este reconocido personaje en la pantalla grande con "CANTINFLAS".

Pictures has assembled an impressive roster of stars for “Jungle Book: Origins,” its new big-screen, 3D adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic The Jungle Book, marking the feature film directorial debut of Andy Serkis.  The action adventure, which will blend motion capture and live action, will be released worldwide beginning October 21, 2016.  The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures. 

The actors performing the roles of the story’s central animal characters are: Benedict Cumberbatch (“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”) as the fearsome tiger, Shere Khan; Oscar winner Cate Blanchett (“Blue Jasmine”) as the sinister snake, Kaa; Oscar winner Christian Bale (“The Fighter,” the “Dark Knight” Trilogy) as the cunning panther, Bagheera; Andy Serkis (“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”) as the wise bear, Baloo; Peter Mullan (“Hercules”) as the leader of the wolf pack, Akela; Tom Hollander as the scavenging hyena, Tabaqui; Naomie Harris (“Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom”) as Nisha, the female wolf, who adopts the baby Mowgli as one of her cubs; Eddie Marsan (“Ray Donovan”) as Nisha’s mate, Vihaan; and Jack Reynor (“Transformers: Age of Extinction”) as Mowgli’s Brother Wolf.  On the human side, young actor Rohan Chand (“The Hundred-Foot Journey,” “Bad Words”) will play the boy raised by wolves, Mowgli.

The film is being produced by Steve Kloves, who wrote seven of the blockbuster “Harry Potter” films.  Jonathan Cavendish (“Elizabeth: The Golden Age,” performance capture producer “Godzilla”) is also serving as a producer.  The screenplay is by Kloves’ daughter, Callie Kloves, based on the stories by Kipling. 

The story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli, raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India.  As he learns the often harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera, Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own.  All but one: the fearsome tiger Shere Khan.  But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins.

If I Stay, es basada en el libro escrito por Gayle Forman, unos de los libros más vendidos en el 2009 y el cual fue nombrado como uno de los Best Seller por el New York Times.

IF I STAY cuenta la historia de Mia (Chloe Grace Moretz), una chica de diecisiete años que tiene una increíble pasión por el Chelo. Apunto de graduarse de la preparatoria, Mia encuentra el amor en Adam (Jamie Blackley) quien es unos años mayor que ella y quien toca en una banda de rock. 

Los dos comparten la pasión por la música, Adam sueña en que su banda de rock sea famosa y Mia en ser aceptada en una de las mejores escuelas de música, Juilliard’s. Con muchos sueños por delante y sin imaginar lo que vendría, Mia se ve envuelta en un trágico accidente de auto donde sus padres pierden la vida, y ella y su hermano menor quedan gravemente heridos.  En ese instante Mia lo pierde todo y queda solo con una opción, aferrarse a la vida o dejarse ir.

En conferencia de prensa ofrecida aquí en Los Ángeles, CA con los protagonistas y algunos realizadores de la cinta, pudimos enterarnos de los retos a los que se enfrentaron al llevar esta exitosa historia a la pantalla grande.  

Gayle Forman dio comienzo a la conferencia de prensa compartiendo la sinopsis de esta maravillosa historia.  Por su parte, la bella actriz, Chloe Grace Morentz,  explicó el proceso de aprender a tocar el Chello, “tuve siete meses de practica con el Chelo. Practicaba dos horas diarias y lo más que pudiera durante mi tiempo libre. 

El Chelo siempre me encontraba a donde sea que viajara, lo cual le daba este sentimiento que tenia que interpretar en la película. Más que nada, tuve que aprender la emoción y la pasión que se debe de tener para tocar este instrumento.  Tienes que ponerle todo el alma una vez que lo tocas,” dijo la actriz.

Por su parte, el director, R.J. Cutler y la escritora del libro, Gayle Forman hablaron también de las etiquetas que se le ponen a este tipo de historias y que ellos consideran un error, “Nosotros no creemos que esta película es solo para jóvenes o para mujeres solamente. Nos parece que esta película es para familias, personas que son padres e hijos, me parece que todas estas personas responderán a esta película por los temas que se tocan.”

Durante la conferencia de prensa, Chloe Grace Moretz también compartió con los medios los retos a los que se ha enfrentado y lo difícil que ha sido su carrera.  “A sido muy difícil lograr cada uno de los personajes que me ha tocado hacer porque siempre hay limitaciones de que tan joven o que tan mayor puedo ser para cada uno de ellos,” dijo la actriz confesando también que sigue peleando por sus personajes.  

Al ser cuestionada por la profundidad y fuerza de sus papeles anteriores, la actriz comento entre risas que ha sido porque tiene una familia muy normal, siguiendo con, “Los personajes que he escogido han sido porque eso es lo que yo llamo actuación. Dar vida y descubrir las emociones que nunca jamás sentirías o vivirías en la vida real.”  Sin duda, esta joven actriz tiene mucho que ofrecer y estaremos viendo más de ella en un futuro cercano.

Por lo pronto , si eres de las mías y te encanta las historias románticas, y de paso disfrutas de la música y la fotografía, IF I STAY es una perfecta combinación y tú opción para este fin de semana.

Mia Hall (Moretz) thought the hardest decision she would ever face would be whether to pursue her musical dreams at Juilliard or follow a different path to be with the love of her life, Adam (Blackley).  But what should have been a carefree family drive changes everything in an instant, and now her own life hangs in the balance.  Caught between life and death for one revealing day, Mia has only one decision left, which will not only decide her future but her ultimate fate.

Rounding out the main cast are Liana Liberato , Aisha Hinds, Jakob Davies and Gabrielle Rose.

R.J. Cutler directed the film from a screenplay by Shauna Cross based on Forman’s novel.  “If I Stay” is produced by Alison Greenspan, with Denise DiNovi, Forman and Brad Van Arragon serving as executive producers.

Cutler’s behind-the-scenes team included cinematographer John de Borman, production designer Brent Thomas, editor Keith Henderson, costume designer Monique Prudhomme and composer Heitor Pereira.

Slated for release on August 22, 2014, “If I Stay” is a presentation of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment company, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures.

“The Giver” Una Película Basada En El Libro De Louis Lowry… En Entrevista Con El Elenco Y El Equipo De Producción Que Logró Que Este Popular Libro Estrenara En La Pantalla Grande

Allie’s Entertainment Blog, tuvo la oportunidad de participar y compartir durante el Press Conference con el elenco, director, escritor y autora, de la película basada en el popular libro escrito por Louis Lowry’s… “The Giver”

“The Giver” trata, sobre la historia de una sociedad ficticia donde absolutamente toda la historia de la humanidad ha sido borrada de la mente de las personas. En este entorno, un niño de doce años llamado Jonás, es el elegido para recibir todos los recuerdos, sentimientos y emociones de las personas de su comunidad, por si llegado el momento pueden ser útiles.

A partir de aquí, el protagonista es sometido al entrenamiento de un hombre al que llaman “The Giver” (El dador de recuerdos), un anciano que le enseñará toda la historia del mundo, incluyendo los peores recuerdos, como el hambre o los conflictos. Al enterarse de la cruda realidad sobre el mundo, Jonás debe tomar decisiones sobre cómo debe actuar, ahora que sabe que todo lo que le rodea no es más que una farsa.

La adaptación de la novela de Lois Lowry estará escrita por Vadim Perelman ('Casa de arena y niebla'), mientras que el encargado de dirigirla será Phillip Noyce ('Revenge'). Jeff Bridges ('Tron Legacy') por su parte, interpretará el personaje principal de la película.

Este libro “The Giver” ha vendido alrededor de 10 millones de copias alrededor del mundo y es el libro más vendido para niños y adolescentes.  Este libro hoy en dia esta asignado como lectura en todas las escuelas de los Estados Unidos.  

Y uno de sus lectores, fue el veterano actor Jeff Bridges, quien cuando lo vio y lo leyó hace 18 anos atrás, pensó que sería grandioso llevarlo a la pantalla grande.

“He trabajado en este proyecto por 18 años… Originalmente yo quise que mi padre Lloyd Bridges interpretará “The Giver” y fuera una película que mi hijos vieran y jóvenes de aquella época vieran.  Y lo curioso es que yo estaba buscando en un catálogo de niños un libro y me encontré con la cubierta de este libro y pensé que era grandioso.  Decidí leerlo y me encantó, porque puede ser lectura para jóvenes, como para adultos y pensé que sería grandioso llevarlo a la pantalla grande y ver como se realizaba” Explicó Jeff Bridges.

Después de 18 años, el papel de “The Giver” lo interpretó Jeff Bridges, aunque este en el pasado, deseaba que su padre Lloyd Bridges lo interpretara.

“Resulta, que al final cualifique para ser “The Giver”.  Se sintió grandioso.. esta película a es un éxito, en como creativamente fue filmado y la audiencia lo verá cuando vean la película.  Y esta película no hubiera podido ser un éxito, no solo por el talento, sino por quien la dirige y por su cinematógrafo, quienes crearon este mundo hermosamente para la pantalla grande.  La película sobre paso todas mis expectativas” Nos dijo Jeff Bridges.

El director que ayudó a que esta película sobrepasara todas las expectativas de Jeff Bridges fue Phillip Noyce y lo que le llamo la atencion para formar parte de este proyecto fue la historia del libro.

“Lo que me llamó la atención de formar parte de este proyecto fue la historia de “The Giver”. Yo le temo a la tecnología. Yo pienso que hemos perdido contacto con los demás.  So el retrato que da el libro sobre la sociedad en el futuro, está gobernado completamente por la tecnología.  Sentí que me estaba mirando al espejo todas las mañanas y que me comunico con mis amistades la mayor parte del tiempo con una sola palabra por medio del text y se sintió que el libro te está previniendo sobre el futuro y sobre el presente” Opino Phillip Noyce.

Pero alguien que también fue esencial para la adaptación de este libro a la pantalla grande, fue el escritor Robert Wiede, de quien Louis Lowry’s dijo que retuvo el espíritu del libro. Robert Wiede creó nuevas escenas que no están en el libro, especialmente cuando tienes a una actriz del calibre Meryl Streep, ya que tienes que darle algo con que trabajar.

“Hay un punto en la historia en el libro, donde Jonás decide irse de la comunidad y una vez que lo hace, la historia sigue con el y nunca vamos para atrás para ver como afecta a la comunidad cuando se va. Pero en la película, mi version, nosotros tenemos que ver que pasa en la comunidad cuando el se va.. so, creamos una nueva escena y expandimos partes de la historia y cuando tienes a Meryl Streep, tienes que darle material con que trabajar.  Pero fue tomar al libro como base, pero al mismo tiempo expandiendo y encontrar formas de hacerlo visual e incluir un poco de acción” Explicó Robert Wiede.

Una de las actrices que formó parte del elenco, fue Katie Holmes, quien nos habló porque decidió formar parte de esta película y lo feliz que se siente de haber formado parte de esta película.

“Yo creo, que lo que me llamó la atención de formar parte de este proyecto fue el libro de “The Giver”. Este libro es querido por muchos y es por su temas tan influyentes y permite que los jóvenes puedan tomar decisiones por si mismos y entender el significado de tener la libertad de tomar sus propio camino” Opino Katie Holmes.

En cuanto como fue trabajar en esta película e interesante interpretar a su personaje...

“Yo estoy feliz de haber formado parte de esta pelicula, de haber tenido la oportunidad de trabajar junto a Jeff Bridges y Meryl Streep y los demás extraordinarios actores y por supuesto fue grandioso trabajar con Phillip. Fue interesante interpretar a mi personaje “Mother” porque en este mundo no hay emoción, no hay dolor y para un actor es un poco difícil porque nosotro siempre tratamos de darle alguna emoción a nuestro personaje, pero en esta película no puedes, fue un poco retante” Dijo Katie Holmes.

Esta pelicula tambien fue interpretada por los jóvenes actores Brenton Thwaites, Odeya Rush, Cameron Monaghan y la participación especial de la famosa cantante Taylor Swift.

Para finalizar un comentario muy interesante que mencionó el Director Phillip Noyce sobre el porqué también decidió ser parte sobre este proyecto.

“Otra razón por la que decidí formar parte de este proyecto, es sobre las preguntas fundamentales sobre que nos hace humanos y como el amor nos empuja a considerarlo” Dijo Phillip Noyce.
